Introduction by Fr Andrew
Davis - Vicar.
Christ the Saviour is the parish church of a parish centred on
Ealing Broadway, a major West London cosmopolitan suburb and shopping
and commercial center. As a building the church occupies a prominent
position in the Broadway and attracts many visitors. . The church
is open every day from 8.00 am until 6.00 pm, with Mass celebrated
daily, and Evening Prayer recited in public. This round of prayer
is at the heart of all that we do. It has a sense of peace and devotion
and is in constant daily use for prayer and solitude by many people.
However, the church is also built out of “living stones”
and houses a parish community of local Anglican Christians. This
is an “all-age” community which worships together, lives
the Christian life and proclaims the Gospel to all who live and
work within its parish. The church building and the church community
are both open to all, welcome all and have an exciting, challenging
and varied ministry rooted in the local community.
I am grateful to Fr Robin Jones for putting so much thought, time
and skill in designing the site and putting it into operation. Many
thanks also to Stephen Parkinson and Clare Hewitt-Horsman who gave
us invaluable advice and help at the begining, and to Chris Preston
for setting up the earlier site. |
